We have recently obtained planning permission to extend and remodel a townhouse, in Campden Grove, located in the Campden Hill conservation area of Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Our proposals extend the rear outrigger, sympathetically matching the style of the existing windows, to create a larger kitchen and dining area, and study/bathroom on floors above. An existing glazed infill has been removed with a new taller glazed extension bringing light into the plan and allowing a new direct route into the garden.
At lower ground floor level, an existing kitchen is removed to create a new family room, utility and shower room. The upper floors are refurbished, including a new roof-light over the stairs, and internal fire-rated glazing to share light between spaces.
The proposed changes are a sensitive alteration to the front paving, storage and railings – carefully replicating the style and finish of the existing front garden and railings. Once complete the intention would be that the built form is indistinguishable from existing areas. The removal of the existing banding, and new cornice and pediments (to replicate No 4) add an authentic layer of embellishment and detailing.
Working with Amelia Bouquet Garden Design the front garden will have a new planting scheme to soften and screen the front of the house, and providing a high quality visual amenity for the clients to enjoy from their upper ground living room.
