Surrey Hills
Our clients bought a detached house in the beautiful Surrey Hills, but it needed modernising and re-configuring to meet their needs for a busy family life.
Our proposals included a 2-storey extension to the side, done under full planning, and a small rear extension, delivered under permitted development. At ground floor this enabled a new generously sized kitchen, dining and living space to be set out maximising views of the large rear garden and distant woodland. At first floor we created a new guest bedroom and en-suite bathroom with a new laundry chute to the utility below.
A sequence of full-height glazed doors stretches across the rear of the property, creating light-filled living spaces with uninterrupted views and a strong visual relationship to the landscape. The extensive use of slim-framed glazing dissolves the boundary between inside and out, allowing daylight to penetrate deep into the plan and supporting a fluid connection to the terrace and garden beyond.
Internally, the layout is organised around flexible family living, with generous open-plan spaces supported by more intimate areas, like a study and adult living room. Our designs prioritise comfort, natural light, and longevity, delivering a modern family home that feels both grounded and expansive.
